Even though Becca, real name Rebecca Acheampong, was the monarch of all that she surveyed by scooping the ultimate award at the just ended 3rd Edition of the 4Syte Music Video Awards, held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, November 19, 2011, the “Daa ke daa” hit maker went home very worried.
Her anxiety was borne out of the fact that moments after receiving the award for “Best Overall Music Video” and after giving her acceptance speech, the sultry singer returned to her seat only to realize that her hand bag had been stolen.
As a matter of course, Becca became very restless and with the help of her Manager, Kiki Banson, went asking round if anybody had chanced upon her hand bag. But unfortunately that was not to be. The MCs had already signed off by saying their goodbyes, and most patrons were already streaming out of the auditorium.
A shell-shocked Becca, confirmed this to Peacefmonline.com’s Entertainment Reporter, Eugene Osafo-Nkansah when he bumped into her, looking all forlorn despite winning the overall best award.
“Someone has taken my bag…It was right here. I am surprise I don’t even know what to say…i have my car keys, some amount of money, some important personal documents (ID and call cards)…but my biggest worry is how to get my car keys back,” she said.
Strangely, and in the twinkle of an eye, whiles good Samaritans went searching for the bag, onlookers were bemused to see Becca’s missing bag resting on her seat once again.
CEO of EKB Records Kiki Banson admiring Becca award as Becca looks on How it got there still remains a mystery. But the smile and relief on Becca’s face was short-lived when she realized that though her car keys and other valuables were intact, her money (unspecified) was gone.
Asked how much money was in the bag, the renowned songstress was not forthcoming with a figure, but only stressed that the most important thing was that she got her car keys back.
Becca was not the only celebrity to suffer this fate, as several other stars and some members of the general public also lost their mobile phones, hand bags, designer eyeglasses (shades), partly because of over-crowdedness and poor security arrangement especially at the VIP section, where all the music stars and other dignitaries were seated.
Becca won two awards on the night; aside taking home the“Overall Best Music Video for 2011”, she also won the “Best Female Video” for her song “African Woman”. She expressed her profound thanks to the Almighty God and also to her “Special 3 Fs” - Fans, Family and Friends – for the honour done her.
Special thanks was reserved for her manager Kiki Banson, CEO of EKB Records, for discovering her, grooming her and for the faith he has shown in her till date resulting in who she is now.
I have lived in Ghana for the past 30 plus years and i have never been to an award show. i know i wouldn’t be the only one but i just wanted you to know . So when my friend Abena called to tell me that she had gotten a VIP card for me, i was thrilled! But unlike most women i did not go shopping for new clothes or accessories. I knew exactly what i was going to rock without even scratching my head. I was going to go all out in African print to save myself from accessorizing too much. So i rocked a strapless number by Lucci Designs and slipped on a pair of low-heeled dark golden shoes by Nine West, low-heeled because i was most definitely taking my Rebel out for a night with the stars. After some make-up i wore my geeky glasses just for the geek look.

I was going to go out there to showcase to the world who was rocking what in Ghanaian print and who deserves to be thrown into the Fashionista Prison for life. The Ghanaian fashion industry is maturing like fine wine every day as we create trendy designs from our beautiful textiles, so here are a few designs i captured during the Vodafone 4Syte Music Video Awards and my comments on them. Oh by the way i was like all up at the front of the stage with Guud Kelly of Role Models.

K.I.S.S , this is my code for Keep It Simple Sista. A simple African dress like this doesn’t need much accessories and you are good to go. Because African prints are naturally busy fabrics , avoid making them more busy by wearing too many accessories.

I love this dress as the same fabric but in different colors have been combined to produce this hot and sizzilicious look. Check out the customized shoes. Cool, no?

Simple and elegant. No fuss and you are good to go.
WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!! Dont try this anywhere, especially at an event as this. The lady in middle is being slapped with a minimum of 5 years in Fashionista Medium -term prison. Never wear slippers to any awards night. EVER.

PLEASE THE NEXT IMAGE COULD CAUSE PROLONGED SLEEPLESS NIGHTS! BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHYYYYYYYY!!!!! i dont understand this. I saw some shocking outfits that night but this was the WORST! Fashion is not about copying blindly ladies! Its about STYLE and CREATIVITY. There is none in this image! Life Imprisonment in the Fashionista Prison. Ladies if you ever attend any of these award events or musical concerts, watch what you wear. i sometimes wonder the motives of these ladies who expose 90% of their cleavage whilst the dress length is just a few centimeters beneath their bum. If the motive is to grab a guy then sorry ladies but guys arent attracted to revealed flesh. Well, they would oogle and want to get with you definitely but only for a ONE NIGHT STAND! Men don’t want to see you bare your all to the world, they want to imagine what is behind the gown or decent dress you are wearing. Please take note.

Once again simplicity in its classiest form!
I haven’t forgotten about the guys. Although there weren’t many men in African wear, the few i captured looked so cool.

On the whole, the awards night was just awesome!!! I especially loved the AZONTO performances !! I have to start learning my own personalized AZONTO, pronto! Enjoy this video Sarkodie on the Azonto level!
Rebecca Acheampong known in showbiz as Becca took the overall Music Video Award at the second Vodafone 4syte Music Video Awards 2011.
The second edition of the 4syte Music Video Awards (MVA)’s which took place over the weekend would have been one of the best shows on the 2011 entertainment calendar but for a few critical lapses that were ignored by the organizers.
Undoubtedly the Music Awards which is sponsored by telecom giant Vodafone is a crowd puller and it is this bit that the organizers should learn to pay attention to because with this number of people coming to a show of this magnitude, they should not be taken for granted.
Before I go into the nitty-gritty of the show let me first acknowledge the concept of wanting to recognize and honor our hard working artistes who apart from giving us lovely tunes to listen and dance to, go to great lengths to produce music videos to complement the songs.
Big ups to all the awardees, Ghana is grateful and proud of you and we wish you all the best in the coming years. For those of you who could not pick up any award, better luck next time and hope we would be celebrating you come the next awards.
With that being said, the show was otherwise a great show, other winners Convikt signed, Sarkodie alongside R2Bees and Nana Boroo took home the Best Collaboration award, as well as Best Editing and Best Hip Hop for his hitsong, Lay Away.
Budding artiste Bra Kevin Beats also took home two awards, Discovery of the Year, and Best Directed Video with the song titled 3 Headed Beast, while Best Video for the Male Category went to Okyeame Kwame with the song Faithful ft. Bertha.
The show hosted by Lazzy of VIP and TV host, Crystal Jeanne had exciting performance from the get go as Lynx’s Richie performed a ballad rendition of One Love with sexy Easy, also an award nominee.
It seems that, just like you can be sure of the MTV Video and Movie Awards being laced with deliciously scandalous stunts, the 4syte Music Video Awards had a few of such stunts under its sleeves; the audience were left screaming and cheering as Big Brother Amplified stars, Alex and Millicent locked lips on stage! A bit daring for a Ghanaian crowd, certainly.
There were other pumping performances from Sarkodie, R2Bees, VIP, 4x4, Zigi, Bra Kevin Beats, FOI, Trigmatic, Buk Bak, Stay J and Eduwoji
Other winners included Best Storyline Video which was taken by Eassy with her song One Love Best Choreography Video went to Richie, Best Special Effect Video was taken by Obour, Best Highlife Video went to legendary George Darko of Ako Te Brofo fame.
Best Reggae Video was taken by Samini while Best Gospel Video went to Cwesi Oteng
Best Photography Video went to new comer, Man Sing Angel, a well deserved win, I must admit.
4x4 took away the Best Group Video and the Coco Master, Dbanj took the Best African Video.
There were honorary awardees for the event and that included the Living Legend Award which was picked up by Ernest Addoquaye.
Achievement Award was picked up by Ivan Quashiga

His name is gradually creeping into our households, as his face and name is matched to the funny character he played in the Vodafone 3030 commercial. The advert has ended but his claim to fame and his music side has just taken off.
Fritz is Ghana’s budding music sensation, having won the Voice factory in 2009 and subsequently dropping 3 singles off his upcoming album. Quame Junior a few weeks ago sourced out information that the “Me do Wo” star shot the video of his debut single “Me do
Wo” which features Guru and produced by Kaywa.
The video is under the directing tutelage of Take 2 Multimedia, who have already undertaken rather impressive projects working with the likes of Reggie Rockstone, D Black to name a few. The video is expected to be one of the most refreshing videos according to close sources of the artist and eye witnesses at the video shoot.
Well I have finally seen the video and can't wait for you to see it. It premieres on 4syte TV this Saturday and this time the Vodafone star would hit your screens not as an actor but as a fine art of music in its purest form. As and when it happens you would know but he promises in an off the books chat that he is in to stay. My review of the video comes soon.
